"After completing my Management Level 3 NVQ, I was then approached
to be Manager in the COOP Travel Speke branch. I was so overwhelmed to be asked to
be a Manager at just 23 years old! I am the youngest Manager on the
Management Team, but I love it. It just goes to show that without the
help of Training For Travel to get me through my NVQ programmes, I
definitely would not be where I am today. Their dedication to get me
through my programmes is what made the difference. I have been in my new
job now for 6 months & i've got a new girl starting soon and I will
definitely be signing her up onto an NVQ programme with Training For
Travel, as I swear by them!

"My name is Miguel Chammoro, i'm 36 years old & I work at Escape, which is based in the centre of Manchester. Whilst working at Escape, I have been given the opportunity, encouragement and support to further my education by completing 3 NVQ programmes with Training For Travel. I have found that TFT have been very supportive and my assessor gives me plenty of guidance, achievable objectives & is contactable by email or phone whenever I need some extra support. I was also named Learner of the Month
last year by TFT. I have just been promoted within Escape as a team leader and feel that by completing my NVQ's, it has provided me with the confidence & motivation which has helped me progress within the company and I am delighted to have achieved further qualifications whilst at work, through Training For Travel.

"I was recently made redundant after 23 years working as an external sales manager for 3 electrically based companies. Because of my great interest in travel and my geographical knowledge I took the opportunity to attempt to re-train with a view to finding myself a position in the industry. I first contacted ABTA who recommended me the services of Training For Travel in Bury, as a company who may be able to offer courses to help me gain some qualifications. I spoke to Anne Marie Sharples, TFT's Business Development Co-ordinator, who was extremely helpful in explaining my options & the courses they could offer. Anne Marie explained that the companies normal function was to train employees who already had a position in the travel industry, but TFT now have a new function where they can open up some of their City & Guilds courses for people to undertake.
I am now working through a level 2 City & Guilds course in Travel & Tourism. I am finding it extremely interesting & fun at the same time. The content and structure of the course is set out in a way that makes sure you remember the information you are learning. This is the first time I have taken an online course in any subject and i'm glad I decided to choose the travel option because it holds my interest & hopefully will increase my chances of working in an industry that gives me greater job satisfaction. If I am lucky enough to succeed at this level, i feel sure i would like to attempt level 3 & would definitely contact Training For Travel to apply for the next step."

"During July 2008, I completed an NVQ Level 3 in Travel and Tourism with TFT. Once a month for just under 1 year, my TFT assessor (Louise) would come and visit me at the branch, to go through my work, which she had set an action plan for me to do at the previous visit. I would work hard to complete my tasks set and study for exams during my own time and sometimes at work in the quiet periods.
The training sessions involved writing up and gathering evidence from past experiences with customers, recording question and answer interviews on the Dictaphone, building my portfolio and also taking several exams. But it wasn’t all hard work; my assessor was great, always at the other end of the phone to help me out. She made learning fun and we had a laugh along the way. Louise also nominated me for “Training For Travels achievement award” during April & I won a “Certificate of Achievement” along with £50 worth of High Street shopping vouchers! She really did encourage me, which kept me going until I had completed everything.
Throughout the course I learnt many new skills such as how to deal with customer complaints and keep calm, health and safety regulations, how to organise events and my maths has definitely improved from the key skills.
I would recommend Training For Travel to anyone who wants to progress in travel and learn new skills, while working and being able to put those skills into practice for the best experience and look forward to my next qualification."

“I started my Training For Travel
journey on the 17th July 2008 in the Thomson store in Bury. From day one I knew
I was destined to be in travel and was definitely the job for me. I started my
Passport to Travel, which is the 1st file you do in your NVQ and I loved it.
You learn so much, its fun and it gives you the knowledge, practice and
understanding that you need in your first months of working in the Travel
industry as it can get quite intense and be a little daunting from time to
time. I got to a stage where I was thriving off finding new information and
putting it into practice on a daily basis.
Throughout my NVQ I completed exams and
training and collage days where you get to meet loads of different and
interesting people within the same industry. It was great to have so much in
common with so many people and share our knowledge over the sessions. I then
started my NVQ level 3 and managed to finish 6 months early!
Everyday I learnt something new and
different which kept everything really interesting. Throughout my NVQ my
assessor was just at the other end of the phone for whatever I needed and was
really supportive. TFT are a fantastic organisation and the whole NVQ was
amazing. It was a fantastic journey and im so so glad I did it. If you are
thinking of doing an NVQ with Training For Travel, then just do it, its well
worth it.”

“Completing my NVQ in contact centre has
been a great opportunity to further my skills and career in the future, it
really motivated me to hit all deadlines knowing I was going to get another

"I began a modern apprenticeship programme with The Co-operative and Training For Travel as soon as I left school. I am very grateful to the Co-operative and to Training For Travel for helping me to obtain my goals.
I feel that my trainers Debbie Wombwell and Fiona Welsh from
TFT have been a great support to me. They have kept me motivated throughout my NVQ and have been very supportive and a pleasure to be with.
I am also very grateful to my manager that I'm able to continue with my training.

"I would just like to say how good the training was. Ive been on a couple of training days about specific destinations, but they were no where as good as good as what TFT taught us on Tuesday. I found it very informative and a useful tool in helping to overcome client's objections. TFT made the content interesting, useful and fun."

"I thought the training day was really useful. Very well organised and extremely informative. Only being in travel since September, i thought i may find it a bit daunting, but was put to ease straight away. I have worked in sales for the past 10 years, and this was the first training id been on. A lot of things were covered in the day, but at no point did i fell overwhelmed. Overall, a great day and i learnt a great deal."

"The training day TFT held was really useful. I have done a few sales training courses at TUI and it was good to refresh over all the different sales techniques. It was all geared at travel agents, but i could releate it to my sales position. I think it would be really beneficial for all new staff members who have not been on any sales courses."
